Fleet Manager (Road Striping/Pavement Marking)
$100-$120K commensurate with experience
The Fleet Manager is an experienced and highly skilled professional responsible for overseeing and managing Stripe-A-Zone's fleet operations program and fleet technicians. As we celebrate 75 years in business, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective maintenance of repair of fleet equipment of 250 units and growing, while continuously maximizing their safety, availability, and reliability.
Supervisory Responsibilities- Hire and train shop employees.
- Oversee the daily workflow of the Shop Mechanics.
- Provide constructive and timely performance feedback and/or evaluations.
- Manage discipline and termination of employees in conjunction with leadership.
- Routinely work extended hours, Saturdays, and on-call to ensure efficient shop operations.
- Plans and coordinates tasks and activities of company’s fleet auto repair shop, working on gas- and diesel-powered vehicles, trucks, and heavy equipment.
- Prepares maintenance schedules for motor vehicles and heavy equipment; notifies drivers and operators when maintenance is to be performed.
- Builds and Maintains database of maintenance and repair records for company vehicles and equipment.
- Oversees shop inventory, orders parts, shop supplies, and equipment.
- Manage Vendor relations.
- Ensures all applicable safety standards and regulations are followed in facility.
- Participate with new repair shops s and spec build outs.
- Work with IT to maintain diagnostic software subscriptions stay UTD.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- This role requires strong leadership, tactful communication standards, technical expertise, and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
- Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills to find solutions to potential bottlenecks/issues that arise.
- Excellent mechanical skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Extensive knowledge of gasoline and diesel engine repair.
- Extensive knowledge of vehicles, truck, and heavy equipment repair.
- Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues.
- Ability to read service and repair manuals.
- Ability to use hand and power tools.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software to maintain service record database and track inventory.
- Key aspects of Electrical and Hydraulics.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Preferred minimum of 5 years in a leadership/supervisory capacity.
- Vocational or technical school training is preferred.
- Parts/Inventory Management Experience a plus.
- Experience on our specific equipment a plus.
- Previous experience with PACCAR, FDRS and/or Cummins engines preferred.
- Fleetio experience a major plus.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to physically perform repairs.
- Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.
Good vision to inspect repair work. - Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
