Who We’re Looking ForThe Darling Effect is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our growing team. This is an early-career role designed for someone with a solid foundation in accounting principles, strong analytical skills, and a desire to continue developing within a dynamic business environment. This role will play a key part in supporting the month‑end close process, preparing reconciliations, recording journal entries, and assisting with general ledger activity to ensure the accuracy and integrity of our financial records.

What You’ll Do as a Staff AccountantThe Staff Accountant plays an integral role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial records. This position supports the month‑end close process, prepares account reconciliations and journal entries, assists with inventory and cost accounting activities, and contributes to reliable financial reporting. While collaboration with AP and AR functions is expected, this role is primarily focused on general ledger and close‑related responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with month‑end and year‑end close activities, including preparing journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations as directed by the Sr. Controller.
- Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for internal reporting and external audits.
- Prepare and analyze commission and royalty reports to ensure accurate and timely payments to partners and stakeholders.
- Support the Sr. Controller in identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency, internal controls, and accuracy in financial operations.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and external partners (vendors, customers, auditors) to resolve discrepancies and provide requested information.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and basic accounting standards (GAAP).
- Support and review accounts payable transactions, including verifying invoices and coding expenses.
- Support Accounts Receivable activities in seasons of high volume.
- Maintain organized and accurate financial documentation in accordance with company recordkeeping and internal control standards.
- Assist with ad hoc projects, analyses, and other finance‑related initiatives.
- Contribute to collective team efforts by accomplishing any other related tasks as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Required)
- 1–3 years of progressive accounting experience (Required)
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices (GAAP) (Required)
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other standard business software (Required)
- Experience with accounting software (Sage, Quick Books, Net Suite, or similar) (Preferred)
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new systems and processes
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Self‑motivated, dependable, and eager to grow within a team environment
- Ability to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
- Ability to work in a typical office environment over a full shift.
