Sr. Accountant

Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This is a Contract to permanent position offering the opportunity to contribute to financial operations and ensure accuracy in critical accounting processes. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in managing day-to-day accounting tasks, preparing financial statements, and supporting audits.

Responsibilities:

- Oversee daily accounting operations, including journal entries and account reconciliations.

- Maintain and analyze the general ledger to ensure accurate financial reporting.

- Prepare and review monthly financial statements in compliance with accounting standards.

- Perform bank reconciliations and manage cash disbursements efficiently.

- Assist in internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and support.

- Monitor fixed assets using Sage software and ensure proper accounting for depreciation.

- Enhance the utilization of accounting software to improve operational efficiency.

- Support payroll processing and ensure compliance with company policies.

- Collaborate with the Controller to address accounting challenges and develop improved processes.

- Ensure adherence to financial regulations and company policies in all accounting practices. Requirements - Proven experience with month-end close processes and financial reporting.

- Strong knowledge of general ledger maintenance and reconciliation.

- Proficiency in preparing journal entries and performing account reconciliations.

- Familiarity with bank reconciliation processes and cash management.

- Experience with fixed asset accounting and depreciation using Sage software.

- Ability to assist in audits and provide accurate financial documentation.

- Competency in payroll processing and related financial systems.

- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
