Accounting Associate
The Accounting Associate processes and manages the accounts payable process, maintaining effective communication with the remote General Manager and Office Manager. This full‑time position reports to the Accounting Manager.
Duties & Responsibilities- Enter and code invoices into the accounting system, ensuring proper account and entity allocations.
- Prepare and process manual check payments and electronic payments.
- Reconcile vendor statements, promptly resolving any discrepancies or issues.
- Maintain up‑to‑date and accurate vendor records.
- Address vendor inquiries and resolve payment‑related issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain vendor records, including W-9s and payment terms, and assist with 1099 reporting for year‑end processing.
- Identify prepaid expenses and ensure they are recorded and amortized appropriately in accordance with company policy.
- Assist with month‑end close, including AP accruals.
- Understand and apply fixed asset capitalization policies when reviewing payables.
- Participate in other projects and activities as assigned, including payroll journal entries and bank reconciliations.
- 1+ years of experience or industry-specific education required.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience with a minimum of an associate’s degree.
- Must possess strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Excellent customer service, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Proficient in Excel and Google Sheets for reporting.
- Good attitude and work ethic with strong attention to detail.
- Results‑oriented, critical thinking, sound decision‑making, and time management skills.
- Strong sense of urgency.
- Must be able to work in a fast‑paced office environment.
- Follows through on projects to successful completion, meeting deadlines.
