The OpportunityWe are seeking an experienced, highly organized, and exceptionally trustworthy Family Controller to oversee the financial operations of our household and personal LLC.
This is a unique opportunity to become a trusted, long-term partner supporting a private family. The successful candidate will oversee the family’s accounting and financial operations while helping build the systems, processes, and financial insight that support informed decision-making and exceptional stewardship.
This is a hybrid, part-time position averaging approximately 10–20 hours per week
. Most work can be completed remotely, with in-person meetings typically every other week and additional meetings as needed.
The Family Controller reports directly to the Home Manager
, who serves as the position’s direct supervisor and is responsible for setting priorities, assigning work, providing ongoing guidance, and conducting performance evaluations.
The Family Controller will work closely with family members, outside accountants, investment advisors, attorneys, insurance professionals, payroll providers, and business finance personnel. Success in this role requires excellent communication, sound judgment, and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality while collaborating with a variety of stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain accurate accounting records for family entities and personal LLC.
- Manage monthly financial reporting, account reconciliations, and cash flow.
- Develop financial dashboards and reports that provide meaningful insight into household finances.
- Monitor household budgets and provide budget variance reporting.
- Coordinate bill payment, payroll, contractor payments, and other financial obligations.
- Improve financial systems, workflows, and administrative processes.
- Coordinate with outside accountants, investment advisors, attorneys, insurance professionals, payroll providers, and business finance personnel.
- Assist with long‑term financial planning, budgeting, and cash reserve management.
- Protect highly confidential financial and personal information while providing exceptional service to the family.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- CPA designation preferred but not required.
- Five or more years of progressive accounting, controller, family office, or private client financial management experience.
- Experience supporting high‑net‑worth individuals, family offices, or multi‑entity accounting is strongly preferred.
- Strong accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting skills.
- Experience with Quick Books or similar accounting software.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Outstanding integrity, discretion, professionalism, and judgment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with family members and trusted advisors

, with flexibility during onboarding, monthly financial reporting, annual budgeting, tax season, and special projects. - The position is hybrid
, with the majority of work performed remotely. Regular in‑person meetings with the Home Manager and family members will generally occur every other week, with occasional additional meetings as needed. - Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
