Grand Valley Medical Specialists (GVMS) is a well-established, physician-owned private practice that has been proudly serving the Grand Rapids community since the 1930s. Our team includes 14 internal medicine, pediatrics, and family medicine physicians, along with 5 advanced practice providers, all working together to provide compassionate, high-quality care to our patients. As a locally rooted practice, we value teamwork, accountability, and the personal connections we build with our patients and each other.

Position

Responsibilities
  • Process, review, and accurately enter invoices for payment
  • Verify invoices for proper documentation, approvals, and coding
  • Prepare and process vendor payments in a timely manner
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve billing discrepancies
  • Maintain accurate and organized accounts payable records
  • Communicate with vendors regarding invoices, payments, and account questions
  • Monitor recurring expenses and service agreements
  • Assist with month-end financial processes and reporting
  • Support practice leadership with expense tracking and financial documentation
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial and patient information
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in accounts payable, bookkeeping, or office accounting preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to follow through on tasks
  • Professional communication skills and ability to work effectively with vendors and team members
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and accounting software
Preferred Experience
  • Experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting
  • Familiarity with medical practice operations, vendors, and healthcare-related expenses
  • Experience with electronic accounting or practice management systems
