How Your Role Makes a Difference
- Coordinate details for single audit by maintaining contract information spreadsheet, reconciling with general ledger, assisting auditors with testing, preparing reports and submission of completed audit;
- Contribute to the success of the annual agency budget process working closely with the Chief Financial Officer and external software solution providers, ensuring the process is well documented and tested;
- Maintain Chart of Accounts by revising documents, updating information in CRM, general ledger, and financial reporting system;
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of the annual Indirect Cost Rate Agreement, Cost Reports, and other regulatory compliance reports, as required;
- Publish the agency-wide monthly financial reports;
- Ensure compliance with state and federal requirements by studying and adhering to regulations for financial filings;
- Promptly respond to financial inquiries by gathering, analyzing, summarizing, and interpreting key data;
- Develop ad-hoc financial reports as requested by Finance team;
- Provide financial counsel by studying operational issues, applying financial practices and principles, and developing recommendations;
- Stay up to date on current financial regulations and accounting best practices as pertain to nonprofit organizations;
- Essential job responsibilities may vary based on the specific needs of each program/department;
- May be required or asked to participate in a Bethany sponsored event;
- Complete other duties as assigned.
What Will Make You Successful
- Bachelor’s level degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent field of study.
- At least five (5) years of experience in an accounting role.
- Professional CPA Certification preferred.
- Advanced knowledge in MS Office Excel and accounting software.
- Demonstrated ability with effectively managing competing projects and timelines.
- Proven working knowledge of accounting and general ledger concepts.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Calm disposition to work under strict deadlines and accurate results.
- Prior experience working with Great Plains Accounting a plus.
- Demonstrated knowledge of business bookkeeping procedures.
- Must possess a high level of organizational skills with acute attention to detail and detection of discrepancies.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and exercise a high level of confidentiality.
- Computer skills sufficient to perform essential functions including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite;
- Must be 21 years old with a valid driver's license with at least 3 years driving experience in the U.S. to operate a vehicle on behalf of Bethany;
- Must pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check and maintain a reliable vehicle with proof of adequate coverage;
- Pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries;
- Subscription to and integration of the agency Statement of Faith, Mission Statement, and Commitment to Unity.
