Position: Trade Compliance Research & Advisory Analyst
Location: Hybrid / Remote
Reports to: Senior Director of Customs & Trade Compliance
Status: Exempt
Role OverviewThis role sits at the center of smart, defensible trade compliance decisions. The Trade Compliance Research & Advisory Analyst is the person we rely on to dig into tough regulatory questions, translate complex rules into practical guidance, and help our teams and clients move forward with confidence.
You’ll be a trusted advisor to operations and leadership-strengthening how we research, document, and apply customs regulations. This position supports existing management and frontline teams by bringing clarity, consistency, and rigor to compliance work.
What You'll Do Client & Internal Advisory- Tackle client and internal compliance questions that require real research and judgment.
- Turn dense regulations into clear, usable direction for entry writers, account teams, and customers.
- Join client calls and meetings when compliance insight is needed.
- Study CBP regulations, rulings, Federal Register notices, and PGA requirements.
- Analyze issues involving valuation, classification, country of origin, admissibility, and documentation.
- Prepare well‑written summaries that explain the risk, options, and recommended path.
- Partner with entry writers and customs leadership on non‑routine or high‑risk matters.
- Support classification reviews, ruling strategies, and corrective actions when questions get complex.
- Track regulatory changes and share what matters with the business.
- Help create internal guides, SOP drafts, and client advisories.
- Contribute to compliance updates that keep clients informed and prepared.
- Spot repeat issues and help fix the root cause.
- Support audits, internal reviews, and process improvements that raise the bar.
- 3–5+ years in customs brokerage, trade compliance, or international logistics
- Solid working knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations
- Proven ability to research an issue and document clear conclusions
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Comfortable working with clients and senior leaders
- Licensed Customs Broker (LCB)
- Experience with audits, post‑entry corrections, or CBP inquiries
- Background in a brokerage or 3PL environment
- Interest in pursuing LCB licensure if not already held
