Job Title: Subcontractor Compliance Specialist
Location: Grand Rapids, MI
Job Summary:
The Subcontractor Compliance Specialist is responsible for managing certified payroll requirements and subcontractor compliance for federal construction projects. This role ensures subcontractors comply with applicable prevailing wage requirements, contract provisions, and federal regulations. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, comfortable managing multiple projects and deadlines, and able to communicate effectively with project managers, payroll/accounting staff, subcontractors, and government agencies.
Job Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):
- Review accuracy of certified payroll reports for applicable projects.
- Monitor compliance with the Davis-Bacon and applicable prevailing wage requirements.
- Review contract wage determinations and identify required labor classifications and fringe benefit rates.
- Verify employee classifications, hourly wages, fringe benefits, deductions, and hours worked for compliance with applicable wage determinations.
- Coordinate corrections when payroll discrepancies or compliance issues are identified.
- Maintain required payroll documentation and supporting records for audits and contract closeout.
- Respond to certified payroll inquiries from contracting agencies, project managers, and subcontractors.
- Manage subcontractor compliance from initial onboarding through project completion.
- Maintain compliance trackers for active projects and communicate outstanding items to appropriate team members.
- Verify subcontractors meet contractual insurance and compliance requirements before beginning work.
- Monitor expiration dates for insurance, licenses, registrations, and other required documentation.
- Communicate compliance deficiencies to subcontractors and follow up until required documentation or corrections are received.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in certified payroll, construction compliance, payroll, accounting, federal contract administration, or a related field preferred.
- Experience with Procore, Quick Books, Salesforce, and/or similar construction/accounting systems is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage documentation for multiple projects simultaneously.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to identify discrepancies and independently follow through until issues are resolved.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary range $50,000 - $80,000 ; commensurate with experience and qualifications.
