Foreman-Heavy Civil; Nationwide

R‑2 Contractors is a civil and underground construction company focused on power infrastructure and renewable energy projects across the United States.

This role requires a motivated leader who can oversee underground utility installation projects, ensuring safety, quality, and timely completion.

• Collaborate with project managers to plan and schedule dry utility installation activities.
• Review construction drawings, blueprints and specifications to determine scope of work.
• Supervise and coordinate the work of crews involved in underground utility installation, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, quality standards and project specs.
• Assign tasks and responsibilities to crew members, monitor performance and provide guidance as needed.
• Coordinate with project management on delivery of equipment, tools and materials required for underground installation.
• Ensure all equipment is maintained in good working condition and used safely.
• Conduct inspections and quality checks to ensure underground utility installations meet project specs and standards.
• Address issues promptly and effectively to project management.
• Maintain strong communication between project management, subcontractors and other field staff to ensure smooth workflow and safety.
• Maintain daily reports, work logs and documentation.
• Help enforce safety requirements at all times.
• Conduct daily trench/excavation inspections and certifications.

• Experience in underground utility installation, preferably in heavy civil construction or solar industry.
• Utility trenching & backfill experience, civil substation foundation experience.
• Large cut and fill experience.
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills with ability to effectively manage and motivate a team.
• Solar experience a plus.
• Knowledge of construction plans, drawings, and specifications related to underground utilities.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and practices relevant to construction and utility installation.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with diverse stakeholders and convey project requirements and updates.
• OSHA Competent Persons Certification.
• Trenching/Excavation, Shoring, Rigging, Picking, Hoisting, Confined Spaces, OSHA 30.
• 10+ years of verified experience in heavy civil underground.

Job Type: Full‑time
Pay: $44‑50 per hour (negotiable DOE)
Expected hours: 50 per week
