Job Overview
Provide daily inspections of routine activities within the discipline/trade performed by contractors to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and contract provisions. Maintain daily logs of inspection work and review discrepancies with the Field Engineer. Mainly works on smaller, standard, less complex projects.
Responsibilities- Observe, document, and verify work in progress by the construction contractor to ensure compliance with contract documents and plans.
- Confirm procedures are followed and material used conforms to specifications.
- Utilize engineering inspection practices to perform standard calculations and measurements of completed work.
- Maintain Inspector's daily report of assigned work activities, contractor labor and equipment, quantity of material received and verified.
- Perform on-site material testing and produce as‑constructed sketches as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent with at least 3 years of construction‑related experience.
- All required jurisdictional certificates and state requirements.
- Recognition and escalation of discrepancies or conflicts within documents.
- Interpretation and understanding of schedules to provide feedback.
- Operation of relevant testing equipment.
- Strong Microsoft Office Suite and other computer skills at an advanced level.
- Calculation of complex pay quantities.
- Identification, documentation, and escalation of change conditions.
- MDOT Density Technology, MCA/ACI Level I, EGLE Stormwater Operator.
- Comprehensive experience in AASHTOWare software.
