Interning at Wolverine ConstructionGet ready for a summer of learning, building, and making an impact. As a Wolverine Construction intern, you'll work on real projects with experienced construction professionals, gaining exposure to both the business and field sides of the industry. Based in our Grand Rapids, Lansing, or Southeast Michigan office, you'll collaborate with our Project Management and Preconstruction teams and spend time on active jobsites alongside Superintendents and trade subcontractors.
It's a hands‑on experience designed to help you develop practical skills, expand your network, and discover what it takes to deliver exceptional construction projects. We'll provide all the PPE you need to safely experience the action in the field.
- Contribute to the project team to ensure they achieve project schedules and budgets.
- Assist in managing multiple projects in a timely and accurate manner, monitoring overall project progress according to the project scope and available resources.
- Participate in estimating.
Acquire and review cost estimates, ensuring estimates are accurate. - Create project work scopes with Project Manager. During the preconstruction phase of construction, assist with permitting, value engineering, take-offs, pre-bid coordination, bidding process, post-bid coordination and meetings, design team meetings, project team selection, and subcontract issuance. Assist in managing subcontractors to work scopes and contracts.
- Help create and maintain an overall construction schedule. Participate in project kick-off, site safety plan implementation and enforcement.
Coordinate with Owner and subcontractors.
Help prepare and execute project work plans.
Coordinate temporary utilities and job site mobilization. Monitor and alert the project team when changes occur in the project scope, and update schedules promptly. - Alert Project Managerif you become aware of changes that could affect the project scope, schedule,or work completion.
Issue all addenda/bulletin changes to project team. - Help schedule and conduct general inspections of the workers, their performance, and safety during construction.
