We're seeking a Senior Industrial Designer with a passion for creating innovative product design solutions that span across multiple categories within Steelcase. In this role, you'll lead collaborative design projects that bring ideas to life through customer insights, conceptualization, prototyping in our model shop, and implementation. This position is located in Grand Rapids at our Learning and Innovation Center.

• Apply research insights, user-centered design principles, and conceptualization skills to develop innovative product lines.
• Facilitate and lead product strategy & design process working directly with stakeholder teams.
• Drive unique and innovative solutions that consider and strategically leverage our manufacturing capabilities.
• Tell compelling design stories of our team's work internally and externally
• Collaborate with peers across engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing teams to conceptualize, problem-solve, and develop design recommendations.
• Make informed design decisions and communicate recommendations effectively to Steelcase and Industrial Design leadership.

• 3-5 years of experience in industrial design
• Strong portfolio showcasing a blend of sculptural form and mechanical aptitude.
• Proficient in 3D modeling software (Fusion 360, Solidworks, Rhino, Keyshot or similar).
• Experience in rapid prototyping and hands‑on model‑making (3D printing, CNC, hand modeling, etc.).
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and product lifecycle.
• Demonstrated ability to take concepts from ideation to execution, with a focus on both creativity and manufacturability at various scales.
• A curious, experimental mindset with a love for tackling complex design challenges from unconventional angles.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
