Ecological Landscape Architect

Roots Wild is an ecological landscape design/build company serving West Michigan from Greater Grand Rapids to the Lakeshore. The homeowners we serve are commonly trying to enhance their home with a desire to be more “eco-friendly.” The challenge we face is they often don’t understand much about these decisions – that native plants aren’t always as “low maintenance” as they first believe.

So with this in mind, representatives of Roots Wild do everything through the lens of our Core Value, wisdom. Wisdom is solid action and a decision made through the application of knowledge, experience and good judgment. Because of that, we believe landscaping should be a collaboration between human design and natural wisdom, not a battle between them. In fact, we believe people shouldn’t have to sacrifice beauty for sustainability.

Roots Wild is now seeking an ecological or native plant landscape architect to join our team.

Qualifications:

• Masters in Landscape Architecture
• Some landscaping field work experience preferred.
• Familiarity with Michigan native plants preferred, but will train the right candidate.
• Ability to hand draw is exceptional.
• Graphic design skills, essential.

Part-time, year-round position with potential to grow into a full-time position.

Job requirements:

• reliable personal transportation to and from sites throughout West Michigan
• requires site visits from Grand Rapids area to Lakeshore
• company will provide necessary tools for job performance
