Position Summary
St. Mary’s Catholic School seeks a nurturing, highly effective Kindergarten Teacher who is passionate about early childhood education and excited to support young learners in a faith-filled, Christ-centered school community.
The Kindergarten Teacher creates a developmentally appropriate, academically rich, and supportive learning environment that nurtures the spiritual, social, emotional, and academic growth of each child during these formative years.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Instruction & Classroom Practice- Provide high-quality instruction in core academic subjects, including literacy, mathematics, science, and social studies, aligned with state and local standards.
- Use developmentally appropriate instructional strategies to support diverse kindergarten learners.
- Create an engaging, structured, and nurturing classroom environment that promotes curiosity, independence, and positive social development.
- Maintain effective classroom management that supports a safe, respectful, and joyful learning atmosphere.
- Support and participate in the Catholic mission and values of St. Mary’s School.
- Integrate prayer, Catholic traditions, and faith-based values into daily classroom life.
- Foster a classroom community grounded in kindness, responsibility, and service.
- Assess student progress and maintain accurate academic records.
- Communicate student progress and classroom needs with school administration.
- Partner with families to support student growth through clear and respectful communication.
- Work collaboratively with fellow teachers, support staff, and administration.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives.
- Support school events, liturgies, and community-building activities as appropriate.
- Maintain professionalism in all interactions with students, families, and colleagues.
- Follow all policies and procedures of St. Mary’s Catholic School.
- Serve as a positive role model in conduct, communication, and commitment to Catholic education.
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field.
- Valid state teaching certification.
- Experience teaching kindergarten or early childhood education preferred.
- Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills.
- A willingness to support and participate in the mission and faith life of St. Mary’s Catholic School in daily classroom practice.
