SCHEDULE: Hourly Position | Monday-Friday School Days 7:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
COORDINATES WITH: Building Library Media Specialist and Technology Integration Specialist
POSITION SUMMARYThe Learning Commons Aide supports the daily operations of the Learning Commons. This position helps create a welcoming, organized, and engaging environment that fosters reading, research, creativity, digital discipleship, and effective use of technology. The aide provides support to students and staff, assists in managing Learning Commons resources and technology, and contributes to the efficient delivery of library and instructional technology services while advancing the mission of Grand Rapids Christian Schools.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIESSupport Students and Instruction
Assist students with locating, selecting, and checking out library materials, research, and technology-related tasks.
Support students during Learning Commons classes, small-group activities, and independent work.
Reinforce expectations for student behavior and responsible use of Learning Commons resources and technology.
Provide Learning Commons and Technology SupportCreate and maintain a welcoming, organized, and engaging Learning Commons environment.
Catalog, inventory, distribute and maintain library and technology resources, including book repairs and the distribution and collection of technology equipment.
Prepare displays, learning materials, and resources that promote reading, inquiry, and student engagement.
Assist with basic device troubleshooting and “how to” questions.
Support Staff and Instructional NeedsAssist staff in locating and gathering print and digital resources.
Assist Learning Commons staff with organizing, supervising, and implementing activities that support student learning goals.
QUALIFICATIONSPassion for working with a diverse middle school population of students from a Christian perspective.
Bachelor’s degree and library, educational and/or technology experience preferred.
Demonstrated willingness to learn, grow, and adapt in a dynamic educational environment.
