Adjunct Assistant Professor of Physics

Adjunct Grand Rapids, MI, US

Aquinas College invites applications for a qualified Adjunct Instructor to teach the laboratory components of our foundational physics curriculum for the Fall 2026 semester. We are seeking an engaged educator dedicated to delivering hands‑on instructional experiences in an undergraduate lab setting.

This is an in‑person, on‑campus position. Candidates must be available during the following designated lab windows:

Days/Times:
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1:30 PM – 4:30 PM

Courses:

  • PHYS-201L:
    General Physics:
    Mechanics, Sound, and Heat (Algebra-based)
  • PHYS-211L:
    General Physics with Calculus:
    Mechanics
Responsibilities:
  • Instruction:
    Lead and facilitate scheduled laboratory sections, guiding students through experimental procedures, data collection, and analysis.
  • Course Alignment:
    Coordinate closely with lecture instructors to ensure laboratory exercises integrate with and reinforce theoretical course concepts.
  • Student Support:
    Maintain regular, timely communication with students, offering constructive feedback on lab reports and maintaining professional availability.
  • Grading & Administration:
    Evaluate student performance, grade laboratory assignments promptly, and submit final grades in accordance with institutional deadlines and guidelines.
Qualifications:
  • Education:

    Master’s degree in Physics, Applied Physics, or a closely related field is required; a Ph.D. is strongly preferred.
  • Experience:

    Prior teaching experience at the undergraduate level (including graduate TA positions), particularly in a laboratory setting, is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to convey complex scientific concepts clearly to diverse student populations.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and digital communication skills.
