HIGH SCHOOL ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS TEACHER 0.8-1.0 FTE
Deliver engaging, high-quality standards-aligned English instruction to high school students using effective, research-based instructional practices that meet diverse learning needs at the high school level. This role includes collaborating with families and colleagues; planning and teaching integrated English content; using assessment data to inform instruction; supporting Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) structures; and incorporating technology to enhance engagement.
Qualifications:- State of Michigan Teaching Certificate - ELA, BA Endorsement (required)
- Experience teaching high school students (preferred)
- Experience teaching Yearbook and/or Cadet Teaching (preferred)
- Experience engaging high school students in effective reading and writing instruction that builds students’ literacy skills through the use of evidence-based strategies (preferred)
- Experience in Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) & Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies (PBIS)
- Experience teaching or implementing International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) programmes (preferred)
- Experience developing and utilizing a variety of assessments to inform teaching
- Knowledge of instructional practices for varied learning styles and individual student needs
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons in literature, composition, and language arts
- Provide timely, actionable, and constructive feedback on student writing and analytical skills
- Establish and maintain a safe, inclusive, and structured classroom culture that promotes respectful dialogue
- Willingness and commitment to participate in curriculum development, school improvement committees, and professional development opportunities
- Ability to work cooperatively with students, parents, teachers, and administrators
- Ability to motivate and inspire high school students through differentiated and engaging instruction
- Ability to design and deliver developmentally appropriate instruction for high school learners
- Ability to transform instruction through the creative use of technology
- Excellent organizational and communication skills (written, verbal, and listening skills)
- Willingness and commitment to participate in curriculum development, school improvement committees, and professional development opportunities
- Willingness and ability to contribute to a team-based approach to planning and school-wide initiatives
- Successful classroom management strategies and skills
- Willingness and ability to maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance
- Ability to be enthusiastic and flexible
- Ability to complete other duties as assigned

Rate: Per Contract Salary Schedule
