Grand Valley State University’s Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM) is seeking an affiliate faculty member, effective August 6, 2026, with experience in food and beverage operations. This is a 9‑month affiliate academic appointment, subject to funding approval.
Primary Duties- Teaching and mentoring undergraduate students both online and on campus.
- Teach a baseline of 12 credits per semester, including a cooking class in the culinary lab.
- Fulfill service responsibilities within the HTM department.
- Establish professional relationships with companies and organizations in the hospitality industry.
Skills and Abilities
- Master’s degree in hospitality or a related field.
- Demonstrated expertise in food and beverage, including cooking instruction.
- Evidence of effective and innovative college‑level teaching.
Skills and Abilities
- A student‑centered focus and a commitment to quality teaching and mentoring undergraduate students.
- At least five years of experience in the hospitality industry.
- Serv Safe (or similar) certification.
- Physical stamina required to teach courses ranging from 75 minutes to 3 hours.
- Ability to grocery shop, deliver food to the kitchen lab, and teach in a kitchen lab setting for the duration of the course.
$56,000 – $57,500, commensurate with experience. Comprehensive benefits include medical, vision, dental, life insurance, generous employer retirement contributions, wellness resources, and a tuition waiver effective on date of hire.
