Job Title:

ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS (ELL) PARA EDUCATOR

Support English Language Learner (ELL) students by reinforcing language development and academic skills in individual and small-group settings under the direction of the ELL teacher. This role includes traveling between school buildings to support students, fostering positive relationships, adapting to changing needs and schedules, and collaborating with staff and families.

• High school diploma (with college level coursework in education preferred)
• Bilingual (preferred)
• Experience with instructional technology (preferred)
• Ability to provide individual and small group instruction under the direction of the English Language Learner (ELL) teacher and classroom teachers

• Ability to travel between multiple school locations throughout the school day, as assigned
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills when collaborating with students, families, and colleagues
• Ability to work independently while remaining flexible and adaptable to changing student needs, schedules, and assignments
• Ability to implement instructional activities and lesson plans as directed by the classroom teacher or English Learner (EL) teacher
• Willingness and ability to build and maintain positive, respectful relationships with students while fostering a supportive learning environment
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of student and district information, and the ability to conduct oneself with professionalism at all times
• Ability to work collaboratively as a cooperative and dependable member of the educational team
• Willingness and ability to maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance
• Ability to complete other duties as assigned

Hours: Monday - Friday, 27 hours per week

Location: East Grand Rapids Public Schools

Rate: Support Staff Contract, Para educator Classification, Category III
