Job Title: SPECIAL EDUCATION PARA EDUCATOR
Support students receiving special education services by assisting with academic, behavioral, and personal needs under the direction of the special education teacher. This role requires maintaining confidentiality, supporting student independence, collecting basic progress data, and collaborating with staff.
Qualifications- CPI (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention) certification or willingness to become certified
- CPR certification or willingness to become certified
- High school diploma (with college-level coursework in education preferred)
- Knowledge of elementary-level curriculum (preferred)
- Ability to work with students who require special education support with academic, behavioral, social, and physical needs
- Ability to support consistent application of individual plans to help ensure students receiving special education support make progress on goals and objectives
- Ability to effectively communicate and build relationships with students, families, and staff members
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to learn and adapt to students' special physical, communicative and emotional needs
- Familiarity with or willingness to be trained in toileting procedures
- Excellent attendance record
- Ability to take accurate data daily to document progress on academic and behavioral goals while consistently maintaining confidentiality
- Ability to implement academic and behavioral supports under the direction of the special education teacher
- Ability to discreetly support student independence in a variety of settings (classroom, hallway, lunchroom, playground, and bathroom)
- Willingness and ability to maintain regular, reliable and punctual attendance
- Ability to complete other duties as assigned, which may include recess duty
Monday - Friday, 9:10 a.m.
- 2:25 p.m., 23.75 hours per week
