Coordinator of Faith Formation (part-time)

The Parish Cluster of Christ the King-St. Francis de Sales, with churches in Howard City and Lakeview, and St. Bernadette of Lourdes-St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, with a church in Stanton, is seeking a Coordinator of Faith Formation.
Specific Duties- Organize, schedule, teach, and oversee faith formation for adults, youth, and children.
- Develop sound catechetical programs which meet the needs of parishioners.
- Prepare annual budget and program calendar for approval; provide monthly updates to pastor.
- Implement diocesan and parish catechetical policies and guidelines, including catechist certification and child/youth protection.
- Provide support, supervision, and evaluation for all Religious Education personnel and volunteers.
- Recruit qualified and certified catechists and volunteers.
- Establish and maintain a competent religious education staff through formation programs and meetings.
- Counsel and advise students, parents, and teachers as needed.
- Partner with worship committee and pastor to plan liturgical celebrations and sacramental rites.
- Maintain records pertaining to religious education programs and personnel.
- Collaborate with pastor and education commission to set long‑range goals for parish faith formation, research and recommend any changes to the curriculum prior to implementation.
- Attend diocesan meetings, conventions, and workshops; engage in personal faith formation.
- Serve as a resource on catechetical matters, instructional materials, and policy development.

Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree or equivalent in theology, education, or related field, and/or certificate in ministry/theology from a Catholic institution of higher learning. A combination of degree and experience may be considered on a case‑by‑case basis.
Minimum of two years as a catechist or parish ministry involvement preferred.
Must remain current on catechetical ministry trends.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities- Practicing Fully Initiated Roman Catholic in good standing with the Church.
- Catholic theology, doctrine, and catechetical practices.
- Sacramental preparation processes.
- Diocesan and parish faith formation guidelines.
- Program planning and organization.
- Volunteer recruitment and leadership.
- Clear and compassionate communication.
- Ability to engage children, youth, and families in faith formation.
- Collaboration with clergy, staff, and parish leaders.
- Managing multiple programs and priorities.
- Commitment to living in accordance with Catholic teachings and values.
- Be polite, respectful, and professional in all interactions.
- Ability to be certified by the Diocese as a master catechist within the first year.
- Ability to sit for long periods, perform repetitive tasks, answer calls, and give oral presentations.
- Some standing, stooping, and bending required.
- Onsite work and weekend availability expected.
- Reliable transportation and valid Michigan driver’s license required.
- Regular, Reliable, and Predictable Attendance is Expected.
