Adjunct Instructor for Physics Laboratory
Aquinas College invites applications for a qualified Adjunct Instructor to teach the laboratory components of our foundational physics curriculum for the Fall 2026 semester. We are seeking an engaged educator dedicated to delivering hands-on instructional experiences in an undergraduate lab setting.
This is an in-person, on-campus position. Candidates must be available during the following designated lab windows:
Days/Times:
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1:30 PM – 4:30 PM
Courses:
PHYS-201L:
General Physics:
Mechanics, Sound, and Heat (Algebra-based)
PHYS-211L:
General Physics with Calculus:
Mechanics
Responsibilities
Instruction:
Lead and facilitate scheduled laboratory sections, guiding students through experimental procedures, data collection, and analysis.
Course Alignment:
Coordinate closely with lecture instructors to ensure laboratory exercises integrate with and reinforce theoretical course concepts.
Student Support:
Maintain regular, timely communication with students, offering constructive feedback on lab reports and maintaining professional availability.
Grading & Administration:
Evaluate student performance, grade laboratory assignments promptly, and submit final grades in accordance with institutional deadlines and guidelines.
Qualifications
Education:
Master's degree in Physics, Applied Physics, or a closely related field is required; a Ph.D. is strongly preferred.
Experience:
Prior teaching experience at the undergraduate level (including graduate TA positions), particularly in a laboratory setting, is highly desirable.
Demonstrated ability to convey complex scientific concepts clearly to diverse student populations.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and digital communication skills.
