Job Title:
HIGH SCHOOL IB MUSIC TEACHER 0.1-0.2 FTE
The high school International Baccalaureate (IB) music teacher provides IB music instruction at a high school level to students in the Band, Choir, and Orchestra programs. This role includes preparing students for performances, supporting varied learning needs, and fostering a strong and engaging IB music program. The teacher collaborates with staff, families, and music boosters, and upholds a tradition of excellence in music education and performance.
Qualifications:
- State of Michigan Teaching Certificate (JX or JQ endorsement)
- Experience teaching music at the middle school and/or high school level
- Experience teaching or implementing International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) programmes (preferred)
- Ability to be enthusiastic and flexible
- Ability to work cooperatively with students, parents, teachers, and administrators
- Ability to motivate and inspire students
- Ability to transform instruction through the creative use of technology
- Ability to instruct through student inquiry, conceptual understanding, and real-world application, as commensurate with the International Baccalaureate teaching practices
- Ability to implement the International Baccalaureate approaches to learning
- Ability to develop the International Baccalaureate Learner Profile skills and dispositions in students
- Interest and willingness to participate in professional development specific to International Baccalaureate
- Knowledge of instructional practices for varied learning styles and individual student needs
- Ability to understand, value, and positively respond to the unique developmental traits of students
- Excellent organizational and communication skills (written, verbal, and listening skills)
- Ability to promote recruitment and retention of students in the instrumental music program
- Willingness to maintain an active role in all local, district, regional, and state activities related to the instrumental music program
- Willingness to work within a fine arts department that includes choral and theatrical productions
- Willingness to collaborate and communicate with an active parent music boosters organization
- Willingness and ability to maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance
- Ability to complete other duties as assigned

Rate: Per Contract Salary Schedule
