Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Secondary Science Teacher to join our team at Tawas Area Middle School. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore the wonders of science, foster critical thinking, and cultivate a love for learning. This full-time position requires a dynamic educator who is committed to providing a supportive and engaging classroom environment that encourages student participation and academic excellence.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with state and national science standards.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and collaboration.
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods and instructional materials to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Assess and evaluate student progress through assignments, tests, and projects, providing timely feedback to students and parents.
- Foster a culture of inquiry and scientific exploration by encouraging students to ask questions and conduct experiments.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary lessons and participate in school-wide initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and behavior, while adhering to school policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to promote student success and address any concerns.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with educational best practices.
- Supervise and mentor students during extracurricular activities, including science fairs and clubs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Science Education or a related field;
Master’s degree preferred. - Valid teaching certification for Secondary Science in the state of Michigan.
- Strong knowledge of science content and pedagogy, with the ability to teach various science disciplines (e.g., biology, chemistry, physics).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Proven ability to create engaging and effective lesson plans that meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Experience with classroom management techniques and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment.
- Proficiency in using educational technology and resources to enhance instruction.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- A passion for science education and a commitment to student success.
