Aquinas College is seeking a qualified Adjunct Instructor to teach the laboratory components of PHYS-202 (General Physics: Electricity, Magnetism, Light) and PHYS-212 (General Physics with Calculus: Electricity) for the upcoming Spring 2027 semester. This is an on-campus, in-person position.

PHYS-202 General Physics:
Electricity, Magnetism, Light

An algebra/trigonometry based introduction to electricity, magnetism, harmonic motion, light and nuclear physics. This course is the second half of the two semester general physics sequence. It is recommended for students specializing in science. The course emphasizes quantitative and conceptual understanding of the topics in introductory physics without the use of calculus.

PHYS-212 General Physics with Calculus:
Electricity

A calculus-based introduction to classical physics and modern physics and the fundamental concepts of electricity, magnetism, light, and nuclear physics. This course is the second half of the two semester general physics sequence. It is recommended for students specializing in science with a background in Calculus.

The laboratory sections for PHYS-202 and PHYS-212 are combined and meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:30–4:30 p.m.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach the laboratory components of PHYS-202 and PHYS-212
  • Prepare, adapt, and maintain laboratory materials and exercises in coordination with the department.
  • Maintain timely communication with students and provide support as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Physics or a closely related field;
    Ph.D. preferred.
  • Familiarity with both algebra-based and calculus-based introductory physics is preferred
  • Ability to teach effectively in‑person.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
