Job Description
- Role will be a more physical presence at the sites to coordinate compliance and maintenance activities.
- Will be responsible for covering lower half of MI's lower peninsula (Grand Rapids, Bay City, Lansing areas). Can expect to visit one site per day (not multiple sites within 1 day) and travel will be mostly done during the day.
- Field technician/analyst to oversee environmental compliance and construction at coal combustion residuals (CCR) landfills in the state of MI. Landfills are located near Muskegon, Holland, Bay City, and Monroe, MI.
- This position will oversee and ensure our contracted entities are completing compliance obligations related to maintenance, monitoring, inspections, surveying, and other engineering support.
- Will be expected to develop and maintain records, and support report development.
- At active landfills, oversight of closure work and new cell construction may be required, and reporting progress to the Landfill Program Manager.
- Assist in quality assurance by auditing the activities of our 3rd party Engineer as they complete inspections, surveying, sampling, testing, etc. and reporting in a format acceptable to the agency having jurisdiction.
- High School diploma required
- An Associate degree in a Technical/Construction field is a plus.
- Prefer 3 - 5 years relevant experience in a similar role.
- A fundamental and working knowledge of the State of Michigan Part 115 landfill regulations as well as general landfill operation, construction, and maintenance is required; and a general understanding of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) CCR rules (2015 & 2024) is preferred.
- Candidate must be able to read and interpret civil and environmental drawings and related construction documents.
- Strong oral and written communication skills are required.
- Candidate must be able to prioritize and deal with multiple activities on a daily basis.
