As a Civil Engineering Designer II, you will support the Civil and/or Municipal Engineering disciplines in helping to design and develop documents for a range of public and private projects, including design documents and permits for site plans, utility plans and profiles, road design, grading plans and right-of-way plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D software. This will include generating and translating design concepts into final solutions within a multi-disciplinary project team.
You will also receive support to work towards your Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
- Produce preliminary concepts with oversight and full design phase deliverables including drawings, specifications, cost estimates, quantity take-offs, technical reports, narratives, and permit applications.
- Assist in the preparation of calculations and analyses for stormwater management systems, sanitary sewer, water supply and distribution.
- Assist others with field inspection and data gathering.
- Compile crash data at intersections and prepare collision diagrams.
- Prepare Construction Permitting documents.
- Attend municipal meetings and consult with regulatory agencies when necessary.
- Use design software/technology, including Revit, AutoCAD 3D, HEC RAS, EPANET, Micro Station and other emerging technologies for presentation and production purposes.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an EAC/ABET-accredited program or equivalent in education and experience required for professional licensure.
- 5+ years of professional Civil Engineering experience.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record required, with no driving or other infractions that would preclude insurability.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, load and unload vehicle, and drive personal or company vehicle.
- Engineer In Training (passed Fundamentals of Engineering Exam).
- Civil engineering internships or work experience.
- CSI-CDT certification.
- Experience in HEC RAS or EPANET (water distribution).
