The Design Engineer – HPU is responsible for the design, development, and optimization of Hydraulic Power Units and related hydraulic systems. This role involves translating customer and project requirements into reliable, efficient, and compliant engineering solutions while supporting manufacturing, testing, and commissioning activities. You will
- Design and engineer Hydraulic Power Units (HPUs) in accordance with project specifications, industry standards, and customer requirements.
- Perform hydraulic calculations including flow, pressure, power, heat load, and component sizing
- Develop detailed engineering drawings, layouts, and BOMs using CAD tools
- Select hydraulic components such pumps, motors, valves, accumulators, coolers, filters and instrumentation
- Prepare technical documentation including datasheets, design calculations, manuals, and test procedures
- Collaborate with sales, project management, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure design feasibility and timely delivery
- Support procurement by reviewing vendor documentation and ensuring technical compliance
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and value engineering activities
- Provide technical support during assembly, factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and commissioning
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards and codes
- Troubleshoot design and performance issues and implement corrective actions
- Attend training sessions regularly to continue professional growth and development
- Identify opportunities for improvement within department process
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in hydraulic system or HPU design (level can be adjusted for junior/senior roles)
- Strong understanding of hydraulic principles, circuits, and components
- Experience with CAD software
- Familiarity with hydraulic standards and safety requirements
- Experience in lean manufacturing and/or other continuous improvement techniques
- Good communication and technical documentation skills
