Mechanical Engineer - Advanced Level

Position Overview

GMB is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer to fill a role on our project teams. Our ideal candidate is a humble and confident mechanical engineer with a passion for educational design and at least ten (10) years of relevant experience. The purpose of this role is to provide expertise and leadership in the technical aspects of mechanical project design, including code compliance, specifications, system integration and constructability.

• Participate in project team meetings and attend construction meetings with the client and project manager.
• Build collaborative professional working relationships with various disciplines.
• Prepare building models, detailed construction documents, load analysis, equipment sizing, ductwork sizing, hydronic system design and specifications.
• Develop expertise in a wide variety of complex and high‑efficiency mechanical systems.
• Communicate regularly with Project Manager(s) and team members to understand changes to design, scope, schedule, and budget; complete work in a timely manner and alert the team when scope of work changes.
• Create and maintain a positive relationship of trust with clients regarding your area of expertise.

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited program.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in mechanical system design.
• Experience coordinating work with multidisciplinary project teams.
• Demonstrated understanding of construction drawings, specifications, mechanical standards, regulations, and building codes.
• Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines.
• Proficiency in the MS Office suite, including Teams, Word, Excel and Outlook.

• Pursuing licensure or licensed professional engineer (PE) preferred.
• Skill with Autodesk Revit for mechanical design documentation.
• Comfort communicating professionally with internal and external customers across all organizational levels.
• Demonstrated passion for the field of mechanical engineering and architectural engineering consulting.
• Excellent communication skills.

This is a direct hire, full‑time position. Salary will be commensurate with experience and includes an excellent benefit package.
