Automation Vision Engineer

Summary

Work closely with engineering teams to deliver high‑performance solutions using Epson SCARA robots and vision systems. Focus on new installations and maintaining existing systems while providing day‑to‑day production support.

• Configure and program vision systems for object detection, alignment, and error‑proofing within the automation cell.
• Lead integration and optimization of high‑precision vision‑guided pick‑and‑place operations.
• Troubleshoot and fine‑tune robotic and vision systems for maximum reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams to validate systems and meet project deadlines.
• Assist in design, development, and implementation of advanced control systems for automated equipment and industrial processes.
• Provide expert technical guidance to ensure successful deployment and transition into production.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot PLC, PC, NC, and CNC control systems to ensure uptime and efficiency.
• Evaluate equipment and processes, designing, developing, and implementing improvements.
• Identify process/product quality improvement opportunities and implement them.
• Provide technical and engineering support to manufacturing operations and customers.
• Support lean manufacturing initiatives and follow up to maintain gains.
• Assist QA in root‑cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Create and conduct DOE, perform root‑cause analysis, process characterization using FMEA, risk analysis, and data analysis with statistical techniques.
• Assist in customer and supplier product specification review.
• Maintain tooling and machinery, performing routine maintenance activities.
• Research new machinery/methods to improve manufacturing processes.
• Drive Kaizen initiatives by identifying, implementing, tracking, and reporting improvements.
• Oversee projects assigned to the process engineering team, ensuring performance, timing, and cost objectives are met.
• Lead development and execution of Capex projects and serve as liaison for project expectations and implementation plans.

• Advanced proficiency with vision systems.
• 5+ years of experience with robotics in an industrial automation environment.
• Strong understanding of machine vision, robotic integration, and automation control systems.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of the final phases of complex automation projects.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and a detail‑oriented approach to system performance and reliability.
• Industrial or automotive converting manufacturing experience desired.
• 2D CAD proficiency required; 3D CAD experience desired.
• Knowledge and experience in controls, PLC programming, process automation desired.
• Project management experience required.
• Lean manufacturing experience desired.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or Industrial Automation.
