Description

The Controls Project Manager – Retrofit will manage and deliver controls retrofit projects and act as subject matter expert for other PrMCs during Controls Retrofit Kickoffs and Project reviews. The role will own retrofit strategy, standards, risk mitigation, and future departmental retrofit growth, ensuring all activities follow the TGW PrMC project process and governance requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage controls retrofit projects as GPM/PrMC, ensuring delivery on scope, schedule, cost, and quality.
  • Coordinate controls engineering resources and develop integrated project schedules aligned with PrMC stage-gates.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate technical and commercial risks; support formal change control evaluation.
  • Review retrofit scopes, concepts, and designs for feasibility and compliance with TGW standards.
  • Contribute to retrofit strategy, standards, templates, and repeatable processes.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on legacy systems, integration risks, and commissioning challenges.
  • Support retrofit kickoffs and project reviews to validate assumptions and strengthen planning.
  • Deliver accurate project reporting and serve as primary point of contact when acting as both GPM and PrMC.
  • Facilitate communication across engineering, installation, commissioning, operations, and customer teams.
  • Maintain complete project documentation and ensure compliance with TGW engineering, customer, and safety requirements.
  • Other duties as required.
Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering-related field, or equivalent work experience.

Experience: Five (5) to Seven (7), or more, years of experience in project management, preferably in a material-handling, industrial, or manufacturing environment.

Travel: 30 – 50% of travel as required.

Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of electronic, electrical, and automation engineering.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, for both internal and customer audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience working on full design-to-production project life cycles.
  • Passionate for team-based planning, problem-solving, and wholehearted commitment to building strong partnerships to support project goals.
  • Advanced organization skills, with ability to handle multiple priorities at once.
  • Experience working directly with clients on business development and project management topics, requiring negotiation and analytical ability.
  • Familiarity with project management software tools, such as Visio, MS Project, etc.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, requiring regular problem-solving and critical thinking.
  • Ability to obtain OSHA 30 certification within six (6) months of hire or transfer into position.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or PRINCE II certification a plus.
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office tools such as MS Project, Word, PowerPoint, & Excel.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to remain stationary at a desk for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to go to site frequently and move safely around industrial and/or warehouse environment.
  • Ability to lift and carry supplies up to 25 pounds at a time.
  • Ability to operate computers, tablets, phones, and other electronic devices.
  • Ability to communicate with others verbally and in writing, on a frequent basis.
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to job site temperature fluctuations due to seasonal weather in geographic region.
Other Requirements

This position may require work at TGW customer sites. TGW’s customers may require background checks before accessing their sites. Refusal to participate in a customer-required background check may result in a customer barring access and a subsequent reduction in work.
