Senior Electrical Engineer
You will be responsible for designing new power substations and upgrading existing facilities from 12kV to 500kV. This on-site supervisory role includes direct reports, including engineers and designers.
What You’ll Do- Develop project plans, including project scope of work and WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) for complex multi-discipline-based substation engineering projects and EPC projects.
- Manage substation project execution, including project scope, schedule, budget, and project resources, including external vendors, consultants, and contractors.
- Effectively track and stabilize projects, implement solutions to obstacles, and ensure client goals are achieved.
- Attend client meetings and communicate concerns and changes with the client to ensure a positive relationship and growth opportunities.
- Prepare and review preliminary designs.
- Prepare proposals, including budgetary estimates.
- Lead the development of plans, specifications, studies, estimates, material lists, and other deliverables.
- Ensure team adherence to QA/QC program.
- Develop or modify electrical layout/plan of substation equipment and structures.
- Develop or modify substation foundation layout/plan drawings.
- Develop or modify section/elevation views from layout/plan drawings.
- Develop or modify conduit layout/plan drawings.
- Develop or modify substation grounding layout/plan drawings.
- Develop or modify control building layout/plan and section/elevation drawings.
- Lead, mentor, and help grow a team of engineers and designers.
- Manage day-to-day activities for your team.
- Set goals and expectations for each team member.
- Assist in annual performance reviews.
- Assist in recruiting efforts – posting job requisitions and participating in interviews.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 8+ years of direct substation experience in both physical and electrical engineering.
- Professional Engineering license in any state and the ability to acquire further licensure in other states.
- A combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be considered in lieu of education and experience requirements.
- Solid comprehension and application of design software, including Micro Station and AutoCAD and other 3D applications.
- Proficient with Windows-based software such as Word and Excel, which are frequently used to develop project deliverables.
- Ability to learn and effectively utilize new design software programs.
- Ability to work in a team environment with others, including, but not limited to, Project Managers, Engineers, Designers, and drafters in multi-disciplinary groups.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and work product quality.
The minimum salary for this position is $140,000, negotiable based on geographic location, skills, and certifications.
