Principal Applications Engineer – Warehouse Automation Vertical

We are JR Automation, a Hitachi Group Company
, a leading provider of intelligent automated manufacturing and distribution technology solutions. We are building a Warehouse Automation Applications Engineering team to pursue new customers within the Warehouse Automation market.

Location:

Hybrid. Available near our existing JR Automation divisions in Holland, Stevensville, Detroit, Greenville, Nashville, or Salt Lake City.

• Partner with account managers to develop win strategies and technical solutions that meet customer requirements.
• Serve as a subject‑matter expert on technologies and processes in the Warehouse Automation vertical.
• Lead a team of application engineers, provide direction, and pursue future projects.
• Develop strategic direction and win strategies with a team to secure new work from customers.
• Manage the creation of cost‑effective technical solutions that meet customer needs and pricing targets.
• Identify new technologies and approaches to improve win rate on new customers.
• Collaborate with the Market Vertical Leader and sales team to identify potential M&A targets.
• Implement continuous‑improvement initiatives related to AE tools and processes.
• Evaluate viability of new customer opportunities introduced by the sales team.
• Ensure proper staffing, competency levels, and performance of the Application Engineering team.
• Guide, coach, and share knowledge to develop the skills of the wider team.
• Maintain accurate AE‑related fields in the company CRM.
• Support application engineers and functional teams to solve unique problems.
• Review quote packages prior to submission for conformance, risk mitigation, and accuracy.
• Present company strategy for achieving yearly business objectives to management.
• Continuously improve team performance and company‑wide processes.
• Ensure quotes include appropriate risk mitigation plans and conformance to "AS SOLD" scope.
• Attend customer visits for key accounts and support account managers.
• Develop standards specific to automation equipment within the warehouse market.
• Conduct annual performance reviews of team members.

• Bachelor’s degree in a related business or engineering field.
• 5+ years of industry experience leading successful projects and highly motivated teams (10+ years preferred).
• Proficient in all applications engineering processes and tools.
