Grand Rapids, MI. This position offers a blend of onsite and hybrid work arrangements, requiring a presence in the office 2-3 days each week. An extensive corporate relocation package is available for eligible candidates.

Job Description

GE Aerospace pioneers the creation of computing platforms tailored for embedded aviation applications. The Computing, Networking and Mission Systems division shapes the architecture and requirements for these platforms and essential tools for operating and configuring real‑time computing systems. As an architect, you will collaborate with customers to define these platforms, drive the development and implementation of cutting‑edge computing platform technology and products, and engage in research and development to support new computing, network, and security technologies.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Lead in a technical development capacity.
  • Explore and implement processing architectures, focusing on interfaces, operating systems, multi‑core determinism, and embedded processors for enhanced performance processing.
  • Develop and integrate network end systems and switches, utilizing Time Sensitive Networking (TSN), UDP, TCIP, ARINC 664, IEEE 802.3/802.1 Ethernet, and other protocols.
  • Employ model‑based systems design and simulation to evaluate alternative architectures and streamline validation and verification processes.
  • Collaborate with the civil and military aerospace sectors to produce certified architectures.
  • Craft and evolve certifiable configuration tools for platform configuration, integration with model‑based development tools, and security protocols.
  • Engage with customers, both internal and external, to articulate architecture principles and concepts.
  • Communicate design and architecture concepts effectively to systems, hardware, and software architects/engineers for simulation, implementation, and verification/validation.
  • Contribute to the definition of product and technical roadmaps.
  • Conduct engineering trade studies and develop technical proposals to demonstrate how GE’s products deliver exceptional value to customers.
  • Initiate, lead, and participate in Internal Research and Development (IRAD) programs.
  • Promote the development of intellectual property.
  • Nurture technical relationships within the industry by working closely with customers and leading participation in technical committees and symposiums.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, aeronautics, or a related technical or scientific field from an accredited university or college.
  • At least 10 years of experience in Embedded Computing, Networking, Software, or Systems Engineering, or a similar capacity.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.
  • GE Aerospace will not sponsor employment visas.

  • Proficiency in the design of embedded computing and/or networking platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability in software or hardware design.
  • Proven capability to define product solutions that meet customer needs and enhance user experience.

  • Experience with Model Based Development techniques and tools.

  • Deep understanding of internal business operations and the ability to navigate processes efficiently.
  • Familiarity with avionics design guidance documents such as RTCA DO-297, DO-178, DO-254, and SAE ARP
    4754, as well as aerospace certification guidance documents like SAE ARP
    4761.
  • Experience in avionics and aircraft systems.
  • Leadership and mentoring experience.
