Job Title
Contribute to the development of new products for material handling applications including conveyors, sortation, automated storage, order fulfilment, and robotic systems.
Job DescriptionContribute to the development of new products for material handling applications including conveyors, sortation, automated storage, order fulfilment, and robotic systems. Includes development of specifications, device layout drawings, control schematics, PLC logic. May work with support of more senior engineers. Works closely with the overall team to design systems meeting the product requirements. Uses creativity and innovation to design the standard product offering.
ResponsibilitiesConcept, design, develop and engineer products that add value and are a solution to customers and market needs. Collaborate and review with others on the development team to develop products. Ensure products developed fit with current and future manufacturing operations. Ensure products developed meet competitive and market demands for performance and cost. Specify and develop a sequence of operations of automated equipment.
Prepares schematics and specifications for control panel fabrication. Develop Programmable Logical Control (PLC) programs. Maintain product develop schedules and cost estimates. Follow established engineering standards and best practices including software revision control. Support prototype development and testing. Support on site beta testing to ensure safety, reliability, and other performance metrics are met. Investigate product issues in the field and determine root cause.
Domestic travel up to 40% in North America, mostly within the Continental United States.
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related engineering field, or equivalent experience. Experience, such as an internship, with the material handling industry. Experience with sortation and conveyance equipment or robotics design preferred. Experience with Allen Bradley control software and tools preferred. Knowledge of electrical and safety codes for machine and equipment design including execution of risk assessments preferred. Knowledge of industrial automation systems, including HMI and SCADA.
Knowledge of controls/controllers and PLCs preferred. Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical preferred. Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and deadlines. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Team-oriented and collaborative.
