Packaging Engineer

Description Overview

Provides package engineering support and packaging component expertise through the design, development, and maintenance of packaging standards.

• Develop packaging specifications and bills of materials, cost estimates, and rationalizations.
• Conduct and document package testing for component approval or troubleshooting.
• Partner with Business Units to support new product/package launches, promotions/displays, and cost savings initiatives.
• Resolve packaging issues related to component quality, packaging equipment, and line efficiencies.
• Provide deviation resolutions related to packaging component quality.
• Coordinate, conduct, and document packaging line trials for new or improved components.
• Manage changes; resolve or elevate project issues using red flags/scope changes.
• Communicate project status, issues, and potential solutions.
• Participate in selection of new equipment and/or tooling.
• Up to 15% travel required.

• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering or other engineering discipline; typically 4–8 years packaging development experience.
• Thorough knowledge of cGMPs; working knowledge of USP Testing and CR protocol testing.
• Ability to execute testing protocols for a wide variety of packaging components.
• Proven independent work toward goals and initiative in identifying projects.
• Strong analytical/problem-solving skills, interpersonal skills, and customer service commitment.
• Demonstrated broad knowledge of package design, testing, and packaging materials.
