Sr. Facilities Mechanical Engineer

Position Summary:

As Sr. Facilities Mechanical Engineer, you will support our pharmaceutical manufacturing client by specializing in facility and utility optimization and providing subject matter expertise on mechanical systems.

• Run projects and oversee construction activities.
• Demonstrate, build, and enforce the best practices for all M&R projects and functions within the facilities.
• Work closely with maintenance staff as SMEs to coordinate inspections, repairs, and testing/calibration of all instrumentation, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Oversee, identify, and execute NCRs, CAPAs, and Change Controls for the Maintenance and Reliability Department.
• Lead the asset onboarding and management process; create, revise, and help manage M&R‑related SOPs and Standard Work Instructions.
• Provide troubleshooting and strategic production support; aid Maintenance, Reliability Engineering, and Manufacturing Process Engineering Management in day‑to‑day facilities administration.
• Oversee and supervise contractor‑led projects during line outages and facility shutdowns.

• Provide technical support for HVAC and piping projects, assessing current building conditions and designing/ managing projects to address needs.
• Responsible for building automation and management systems and most mechanical and qualified utilities systems such as Water for Injection (WFI) and pure steam.
• Manage projects, supervise construction activities, and prepare turnover documentation and as‑built drawings.
• Consult on HVAC system and equipment design; collaborate with other engineers, project managers, and construction professionals to modify design parameters.
• Lead or participate in selection and appraisal of subcontractors and vendors.
• Write and edit operation and maintenance procedures for equipment and engineering processes.
• Study equipment performance for facility and utilities operation and devise enhancements to optimize.
• Oversee corrective and preventive maintenance work in consultation with maintenance staff.
• Write user requirements specifications for systems and equipment.
• Initiate change controls for additions/changes/decommissioning of qualified systems.
• Communicate with vendors and suppliers to arrange future work and follow up to obtain reports and data for completed work.
• Serve as subject matter expert for multiple critical systems or pieces of equipment.
• Execute facility and equipment audits and record‑taking policies.
• Aid in preparing purchase orders, contracts, work orders, change controls, and other documentation.
• Provide leadership and technical expertise in support of asset management plan implementation to ensure maximum equipment availability and reliability at minimum life‑cycle cost.
• Participate in and lead audit teams; serve as a subject matter expert during audits.
• Create and maintain current facility site plans.
• Ensure compliance with all safety and security protocols.
• Support company core values and agency, customer, and vendor audits as needed.

• Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, science, or a related technical discipline.
• 8+ years of experience in a facilities or mechanical engineering role.
• Experience with drafting, CAD, or blueprint reading.
• 1+ year experience in an FDA‑regulated environment (desired).
• Knowledge of engineering design and drafting using AutoCAD; HVAC or piping design experience highly desired.
• Knowledge of GMP standards and ability to follow CFR guidelines.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Project or other project management software (preferred).

• Work in climate‑controlled buildings with limited exposure to extreme temperatures, fumes, gases, and moderate noise.
• Potential hazards include electrical equipment, pneumatic, steam, and mechanical hazards; trained for safety requirements and PPE.
