The Controls SCADA Team Lead works with a team of SCADA Controls engineers to design and integrate controls systems Visualizations for industrial material-handling solutions and production lines. This position works closely with the other Controls Team Leads and reports to the Manager of Controls Commissioning.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Guides team of SCADA Controls Engineers and performs supervisory tasks including scheduling, review and approval of timecards, time-off requests, expense reports, and performance management activities (with support of manager).
- Leads the design, development, and commissioning of control Visualization systems using PLCs to meet project requirements.
- Writes and debugs HMI applications to ensure proper functioning of control systems.
- Conducts in-house emulation testing to verify system performance and troubleshoot any issues that arise prior to Controls Commissioning going onsite for commissioning.
- Provides support for installed systems, performing preventative maintenance and implementing system upgrades as required.
- Creates and maintains documentation of controls SCADA activities.
- Travels to projects both domestically and internationally.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Controls-related field (Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science) or equivalent work experience.
Experience: Five (5) or more years of hands-on Controls Engineering experience, preferably in material-handling, industrial, or warehouse environment.
Travel: Up to 20% travel, domestically and internationally
Skills & Abilities- Robust knowledge of PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and HMI (Human-Machine Interface) systems.
- Thorough understanding of electrical and mechanical principles, with the ability to read edrawings and AutoCAD drawings.
- Prior experience in formal or informal leadership roles.
- Demonstrated experience working on full design-to-production project life cycles.
- In-depth knowledge of industrial automation and control systems.
- Knowledge of Siemens TIA Portal and C++ or other programming language a bonus.
- Knowledge of Visualization Systems, Examples:
Ignition, WinCC
- Ability to stand and walk around industrial and/or warehouse environment for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Ability to operate computers, tablets, phones, and other electronic devices.
- Visual and auditory abilities to work safely with and around moving and/or motorized equipment, machinery, parts, and electricity that require safety protocols
- Ability to move and use muscles for extended periods of time without fatigue.
- Ability to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
- Ability to communicate regularly with others verbally and in writing.
- Ability to tolerate exposure to job site temperature fluctuations due to seasonal weather in geographic region.
