Position: Finance Director / Deputy City Manager

Role Description

The Finance Director / Deputy City Manager role is a full-time, on-site position located in the Grand Rapids Metropolitan Area. This role involves overseeing the city’s financial operations, including financial planning, budgeting, and reporting. The Finance Director / Deputy City Manager will also be responsible for managing financial statements, maintaining compliance with financial regulations, preparing analytical reports, and providing strategic financial guidance to support the city’s objectives.

In addition, the role includes assisting the City Manager with administrative responsibilities and participating in the development of municipal policies and projects.

Qualifications
  • Expertise in Financial Planning and creating effective financial strategies
  • Proficiency in preparing and analyzing Financial Statements and Financial Reporting
  • Strong Analytical Skills and critical thinking abilities in financial and administrative contexts
  • Background in municipal Finance or related public financial management experience
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and decision-making capabilities
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and regulatory compliance
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
