Controller, Finance & Banking, Financial Manager

Description

We are looking for an experienced Controller to join our team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in financial planning, reporting, and leadership. As this is a long-term contract position, the ideal candidate will excel in mentoring teams, collaborating with sales on financial strategies, and ensuring accurate and insightful financial analysis. We expect this to be a part-time opportunity with 100% being on-site.

Responsibilities:

- Oversee the preparation and presentation of financial reports, including dashboards and ad-hoc analyses.

- Provide leadership and mentorship to finance staff, fostering a collaborative and non-threatening work environment.

- Collaborate with sales teams to develop financial strategies and analyze key metrics.

- Manage annual budgeting processes and serve as a trusted advisor to review and refine financial plans.

- Ensure compliance with financial reporting standards and maintain accurate cash flow forecasts.

- Conduct monthly close processes efficiently and accurately.

- Perform financial planning and analysis to support strategic decision-making.

- Act as a second set of eyes for the leadership team, providing insights and feedback on financial initiatives.

- Utilize Sage or similar tools to streamline financial operations and reporting.

- Partner with internal teams to optimize day-to-day financial activities.

Requirements - Proven experience in financial planning, analysis, and reporting.

- Strong knowledge of annual budgeting processes and month-end close procedures.

- Expertise in creating dashboards and conducting ad-hoc financial analyses.

- Ability to forecast cash flow and manage financial strategies effectively.

- Familiarity with Sage or similar financial software.

- Excellent leadership and mentoring skills to guide finance teams.

- Strong collaboration skills, particularly with sales and other cross-functional teams.

- Advanced knowledge of financial reporting standards and best practices.
