The Senior Mortgage Processor – Float position is responsible for supporting the Mortgage Processing team as a whole. This role will provide coverage as needed to ensure mortgage loan applications continue moving forward and close on time. It will maintain close contact with the borrower, real‑estate agent, mortgage loan originator, and mortgage underwriter through the entire loan process on all loans assigned.
Additional tasks and duties will be assigned based on capacity and business needs, which may include support and assistance to other processors in processing their files.
- Review underwriting decisions, prepare decision letters, and work with applicants to obtain additional documents needed for final approval when filling in for other processors who are off work or based on business needs.
- Work with outside vendors to obtain appraisals and title documents in a timely manner while staying in contact with the borrower and internal partners to complete the loan process.
- Process more complex mortgage loan applications, including conventional, government, bond/DPA, and new construction.
- Review credit reports, income and asset documentation, and confirm all documentation meets requirements to move forward with an underwriting decision.
- Communicate with all stakeholders regarding the loan process, providing excellent customer service at all times for both internal and external partners.
- Finalize the loan processing stage by preparing loans for submission to the Closing Department. This includes obtaining homeowner’s insurance, payoffs, and coordination with the Title Department as well as with internal partners in setting closing dates.
- Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
- 3–5 years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience; high school diploma or equivalent required with additional education preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust and credibility while handling sensitive and confidential information and working effectively with customers, vendors, and internal partners at multiple levels.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications preferred and advanced knowledge of All Regs strongly preferred, along with strong overall computer literacy and ability to navigate internet‑based resources.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to motivate, influence, educate, and advise others on matters of significance.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively while managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong organizational, time‑management, flexibility, and adaptability skills to effectively handle changing workloads and deadlines.
