Interim Controller

Location: Grand Rapids, MI (Fully On-Site)

Compensation: $48–$67/hour

Employment Type: Interim with potential for direct hire

LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a client in Grand Rapids, MI to identify an experienced Interim Controller
. This is a fully on-site opportunity with the potential to convert to a permanent position. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in large, complex organizations and be comfortable stepping in quickly to provide leadership, oversight, and stability within the accounting function.

• Oversee all aspects of the accounting and financial reporting functions
• Ensure timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
• Manage and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and leadership
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls and compliance processes
• Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP
• Partner with executive leadership on financial strategy, forecasting, and budgeting
• Support external audits and coordinate with auditors as needed
• Identify process improvement opportunities and implement best practices

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required (CPA strongly preferred)
• Proven experience as a Controller or in a senior‑level accounting role
• Experience working within large organizations, ideally with revenues near or exceeding $600M
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
• Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills
