The Commercial Finance Analyst is responsible for supporting the Commercial team with customer performance analysis, quoting, margin analysis, quarterly forecast and annual budget. The position plays a key role in driving profitable growth by protecting base business margins and ensuring pricing decisions are aligned with the company’s profitability objectives. Through detailed cost analysis, margin validation, and commercial oversight, the Commercial Finance Analyst helps maximize financial performance for new and existing business.

The role also translates financial and operational data into actionable recommendations, identifies margin-improvement and cost-recovery opportunities, and strengthens the accuracy of future quotes through quote-to-actual analysis.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Quote Development & Margin Analysis
  • Review quote packages to evaluate profitability, margin impact, and alignment with business targets.
  • Perform margin and profitability analysis on all quote packages and provide recommendations to identify discrepancies or risks prior to customer submission.
  • Identify quote risks, margin gaps, cost inconsistencies, and opportunities to improve profitability.
  • Evaluate key quote assumptions, including material, labor, overhead, scrap, tooling, freight, volume, capital and program timing, to validate financial completeness and accuracy.
  • Compare quoted assumptions to actual performance where available and recommend improvements to future quoting assumptions.
  • Support commercial forecasting by providing analysis of quoted business, awarded business, pricing assumptions, and launch expectations.
Pricing and Commercial Decision Support
  • Analyze pricing scenarios and provide recommendations based on cost structure, target margins, customer dynamics, and business objectives.
  • Support pricing decisions related to new business, existing business, cost changes, and margin improvement opportunities.
  • Help establish more consistent pricing discipline and financial review in the quoting process.
Cost and Profitability Visibility
  • Partner with Operations, Finance, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Tooling to understand cost drivers and cost assumptions.
  • Compare quoted assumptions to actual performance where available and recommend improvements to future quoting assumptions.
  • Support analysis of cost increases, operational cost changes, and their impact on customer/product profitability.
  • Help improve visibility into product, customer, and program-level margins.
Organizational Relationships:

The role is reporting directly to VP of Finance and HR with a strong dotted line to Director of Technical Sales. The Commercial Finance Analyst works closely with Technical Sales, Engineering, Customer Service and Operations teams.

Experience and/or

Educational Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Analytics or a related field.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in financial analysis, commercial finance, pricing, quoting analysis, cost analysis, FP&A, manufacturing finance, or related role.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling, pivot tables, lookup functions, scenario analysis and management of large data sets.
  • Experience supporting quoting, pricing, product costing, margin analysis, or customer profitability preferred.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen; ability to see trends and manage large sets of data.
  • Ability to translate data into business recommendations.
  • Understanding of manufacturing cost structures, labor, overhead, materials, tooling, and freight preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, coordination, and time management skills
