Job Summary
As part of Corporate Finance, the Tax Manager, Provision & Federal Taxes joins an expanding team focused on tax compliance and tax planning. The role coordinates the annual tax provision process, leads the preparation of BDO USA, P.C. and its affiliates federal tax returns, reviews tax work papers and returns prepared by staff, facilitates tax projections for federal, state, and local income tax estimated payments, extensions, and budgets, and manages periodic federal income tax audits to achieve no-change results.
Job Duties- Leads the company’s tax provision process and coordinates tax projects from inception to completion.
- Oversees data gathering and preparation of the corporate federal tax return.
- Manages federal tax return preparation using One Source OIT or Corp Tax.
- Coordinates quarterly federal, state, and local income tax projections and extensions.
- Researches complex tax questions, communicates findings, and implements results on tax returns.
- Sets up and computes US income tax provision; drafts financial tax footnote disclosures; supports external auditors.
- Acts as primary contact for federal tax audits.
- Approves reconciling various tax accounts in the general ledger and coordinates related entries with Senior Tax Accountants.
- Drives tax expense processing for budget purposes.
- Demonstrates understanding and execution of BDO Tax Manager Competencies.
- Supervises a team of Senior Tax Accountants.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Taxation, or Finance (required).
- Master’s degree in Accounting or Taxation (preferred).
- Six (6) or more years in public accounting tax or a corporate tax department (required).
- Experience preparing Federal and State tax provisions (required).
- Experience preparing Federal and State corporate income tax returns (required).
- Exposure to multi-state and international tax preparation (preferred).
- CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) (preferred).
- Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word (required).
- Experience with One Source (OIT & OPT) or other Corp Tax income tax software (required).
- Experience with Oracle and One Stream or similar general ledger and consolidation tools (preferred).
- Ability to lead tax projects with limited supervision.
- Superior customer service skills.
- Maintains confidentiality of BDO USA’s tax activities.
- Effective communication with professionals at all levels.
- Works in a deadline‑driven environment, handling multiple projects with attention to detail.
- Bisects multiple tasks while leading and overseeing a team.
- Deep knowledge of federal and state income taxation; manages fixed assets.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
National Range: $125,000 – $145,000
Maryland Range: $125,000 – $145,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $125,000 – $145,000
