What you’ll doThe Home Supervisor manages the operations of the residential unit and supervising the Youth Treatment Specialist staff of an assigned program. Working in cooperation with the Residential Clinician, VP of Youth Development, Human Resources, the Wedgwood Institute, Associate Director of Residential Services, and other administrative personnel in the completion of assigned duties.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Work cooperatively with the Residential Program Manager, Associate Director and Clinician in preparing agenda for and leading team meetings; promote attendance at team meetings and participation from all team members in treatment discussions.
- Serve as an administrative representative to the team, keeping staff current with agency policies, procedures and developments.
- Delegate tasks and assignments fairly and appropriately to assure the completion of all administrative responsibilities and the effective functioning of the residential unit; maintain regular contact with the Assistant Supervisor, Shift Supervisor, and other team personnel regarding delegated duties.
- Provide leadership in the training and professional development of Youth Treatment Specialists/ Developmental Care Specialists; assures all Youth Treatment Specialists/ Developmental Care Specialists receive proper and complete training and exhibit confidence in their skills and knowledge of treatment programming.
- In cooperation with the Learning Institute, Clinician and the Assistant Supervisor, assure that all new staff have a minimum of sixteen (16) hours of home orientation, using a combination of shadow shifts, apprentice shifts, video tapes, and 1:1 communication.
- Observe the skills of direct care staff, provide teaching, feedback and support as needed, and model professional treatment techniques while working on the residential unit.
- Oversee the ongoing training of the direct care staff; monitors and follows through with staff that have become delinquent in meeting training requirements as assigned.
- Meet regularly with the Training Coordinator to evaluate progress and develop programs and procedures for training direct care staff. Assess and implement home specific trainings.
- Assure each direct care staff can apply learned competencies to their area of responsibility.
- In collaboration with program leadership, plan and implement trainings to address ongoing training needs for staff. Provide support in developing training curriculum and leading trainings in collaboration with the Learning Institute.
- Encourage and support teamwork among all staff members; provide an appropriate balance of education, nurturing, and accountability to encourage staff growth and development.
- Use timely supervision, complete performance evaluations, and use appropriate discipline to hold staff accountable for meeting standards of behavior performance.
- Work closely with the Clinician to promote a therapeutic milieu, an environment marked by caring acceptance with an appropriate Christian emphasis.
- Participate in the development of policies and procedures for maintaining a safe and therapeutic milieu; abides within the established agency policies and licensing regulations for behavior management.
- Understand the treatment needs, goals and objectives of individual clients and their families.
- Assure Youth Treatment Specialist/ Direct Care Specialist personnel complete established reports properly and on a timely basis.
- Model professional child care skills to staff as a teacher, trainer and a direct care provider.
- Participate in the interviewing, screening, and hiring of staff to fill open positions.
- Establish a work schedule for Youth Treatment Specialist staff on a bi-weekly basis, assuring each shift is adequately covered and supervised within the limits of the established agency budget (Hour Banks).
