Forest View Hospital Overview

Forest View Hospital, located just seven miles southeast of downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan, is a private 108 bed psychiatric facility that serves children, adolescents and adults. We are licensed by the State of Michigan, fully accredited by The Joint Commission and bring more than 45 years of experience to the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of behavioral health problems.

Under the direction of the Housekeeping Supervisor, the Housekeeper cleans all areas of the hospital by performing routine cleaning of patient rooms, clinical areas, assessment rooms, break rooms, outpatient areas, restrooms and corridors that are consistent with hospital procedures.

Hours:

10am-6:30pm, with every other weekend.

• Performs all assigned tasks in a professional manner in order to reflect the highest integrity of the Environmental Services Department.
• Performs routine cleaning of patient rooms, nursing units, clinical areas, waiting areas, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, and corridors in a clean, neat and sanitary manner.
• Performs terminal/detailed cleaning of patient rooms when required to ensure a germ‑free environment and to enhance patient and employee safety.
• Completes work assignments in a timely manner.
• Uses the appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure.
• Uses and maintains equipment properly.
• Assists visitors with directions whenever requested.
• Always introduces self to patients, families and visitors.
• Reports safety hazards as appropriate.
• Transports trash and hazardous waste to appropriate disposal area.
• Replenishes cleaning supplies.
• Follows all infection control practices including hand washing techniques, Standard Precautions and isolation precautions.
• Maintains set quality standards when performing job duties.
• Ability to do work on their own with normal supervision, adhering to safety precautions at all times.
• Demonstrates the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
• Ability to read and understand equipment operational instructions.
• Cleans and maintains carpet and tiled floors as needed.
• Cooperates with other personnel to achieve departmental objectives, maintaining a positive and supportive work environment.
• Attends to both patient and staff housekeeping needs in a courteous manner.
• Works day, evening or night shifts as assigned.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• 1-2 years of hospital environmental services/housekeeping preferred.
