The Canopy by Hilton, a stylish modern boutique hotel located in the lively heart of Downtown Grand Rapids, is on the lookout for a part-time Valet Attendant to join their team! In this position, you will warmly greet guests, responsibly park and retrieve vehicles, and maintain a smooth and organized parking experience. Regular schedule for this position is Saturday-Wednesday 3:00pm-11:00pm.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Valet Attendant is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient handling, parking, and retrieval of hotel guest vehicles.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Drive and park guest vehicles safely and in a timely manner
  • Provide guest assistance and information, such as giving directions, assisting with luggage, informing guests of hotel amenities, etc.
  • Address guest inquiries and resolve any issues promptly and professionally
  • Follow all hotel safety protocols to protect guests, staff, and vehicles
  • Keep parking areas clean and orderly to ensure that space usage is maximized
  • Monitor any valet parking department equipment and inform a manager or supervisor of any repairs needed.
  • Be knowledgeable of hotel emergency procedures and how to respond accordingly
  • Report any unusual occurrences or requests to the Valet Supervisor or Manager

COMPETENCIES:
  • Excellent communication, both verbal and written

Flexibility with schedule depending on needs of the hotel

Customer-focused with strong time management and problem-solving skills

REQUIRED/PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Must possess valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Knowledge of Michigan driving laws and vehicle usage (manual and automatic transmissions)
  • Valet experience preferred but not required
  • High School diploma or equivalent
ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS

Valid driver’s license and safe driving record – satisfactory criminal background screening required

SUPERVISORY RESPONSBILITY

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to verbally communicate, listen, stand for long periods of time, ability to walk, kneel, stoop, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.

This position requires variable hours based on the needs of the hotel.
