The Senior Benefits Specialist supports the Benefits Team by aligning with HR and Meijer business strategies to enhance daily benefits operations. They oversee operational effectiveness, business process reviews, legal compliance, communication coordination, and continuous process improvements. The Sr. Specialist ensures efficient processes supporting business needs and collaborates with other company areas when necessary, fostering a team environment and strong service culture for delivering timely, quality service to internal customers.
Position will follow our hybrid schedule - Monday-Wednesday in office, Thursday-Friday remote.
** What You'll be Doing:
*** Oversee daily benefit operations between internal and external partners.
* Accountable for documentation related to health and welfare programs, including plan documents, amendments, summaries, notices, reporting, and forms.
* Assist in the development and execution of multi-year benefit strategies.
* Implement corporate benefits programs, policies, and procedures.
* Facilitate effective communication regarding benefits, ensuring that all relevant information is clearly and timely conveyed to team members
* Manage the resolution for team member and HR Business Partner escalations.
* Maintain and manage vendor relationships for health and welfare programs, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and high-quality service delivery
* Ensure Health and Welfare programs comply with legal/compliance requirements, are administered accurately and efficiently, and are effectively communicated to employees.
* Serve as a benefits subject matter expert for the ASK HR team.
* Manage annual compliance events, including internal and ERISA audits, data requests, and coordination with internal departments and vendors.
* Support the annual Open Enrollment process to ensure an effective process for team members and vendors.
* Relying on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, with a wide degree of creativity and latitude.

** What You Bring with You (Qualifications):
*** Bachelor’s Degree in HR or Business Management or commensurate experience.
* 5-8+ years’ experience in HR related work.
* ** Extensive expertise in administering Health and Welfare programs, along with knowledge of industry trends and standards.**
* ** Experience ensuring legal compliance of Health Benefit programs**.
* ** Knowledge of rules and regulations governing Section 125 ERISA Health and Welfare benefit programs.
*** Excellent communication skills.
* Proven capability in benefits and HR program administration.
* Extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
* A wide degree of creativity and latitude.
