About this position: The Data Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines and models that enable analytics and operational reporting across LMCU. This role supports the organization’s data modernization and governance initiatives by ensuring data is accurate, consistent, and optimized for consumption. The engineer collaborates with business and technical teams to deliver trusted data assets that drive member insights and strategic decision-making.
What you’ll do:
- Develop and maintain ETL/ELT processes for data integration and transformation.
- Ensure pipelines are efficient, scalable, and aligned with business requirements.
- Build and optimize data models for analytics consumption using best practices.
- Apply modeling techniques such as Star Schema, Snowflake Schema, and Medallion Architecture for Lakehouse design.
- Work with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Partner with data stewards and governance teams to align engineering with EDG standards.
- Monitor pipeline performance and resolve issues promptly.
- Document workflows and maintain transparency for operational efficiency.
What you’ll bring:
- 3–5 years of experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT data pipelines.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, or related field.
- Experience designing scalable data models using Star, Snowflake, or Medallion architectures.
- Strong SQL and Python skills for data engineering and automation.
- Familiarity with Lakehouse principles and platforms like Microsoft Fabric.
- Experience with orchestration tools (e.g., Data Factory, Airflow, Five Tran).
- Ability to monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize pipeline performance.
- Understanding of metadata management, lineage, and data governance practices.
- Strong collaboration skills to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Ability to work with data stewards and governance teams to meet EDG standards.
- Proven documentation skills to maintain clear and transparent workflows.
- Knowledge of tools like Collibra, Atlan, or Precisely; relevant certifications a plus.
